Doctor of Medicine in Homoeopathy

We have been fortunate to have as our Founder, a Master Educationist who gave direction to Homoeopathic formal education. He learnt through Action and taught through Action. He was the Principal of the erstwhile Bombay Homeopathic Medical College which gave him a fair idea of the intricacies of Homoeopathic Education. He utilized this experience in the academic structuring and development of the National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata and Fr. Muller’s Homoeopathic Medical College, Mangalore. His vision, experience and insight into the needs of the community gave a contemporary angle to his concept of Integrated Homoeopathic medical education. It was remarkable that he was able to base his operational understanding on the developing field of Medical Education and Technology.

Post graduate Homoeopathic Education

The Trust commenced PG education by following the guidelines of Dr. M L Dhawale and structured it on action learning principles with a patient centred focus. The Institute has used modern education technology, imbibed adult learning principles impregnated with the perspective of integrated education which is relevant to the community at large. The methodology was ideally suited to small group discussion and exposed the student to unraveling clinical experience through problem based, case based, work place-based methods. Residents are trained in clinical thinking and action but are encouraged to build the research mind set and inculcate a scientific evidence-based approach.

They are being trained in community along with the OPD and IPD to develop their sensitivity and competency to deal with a variety of problems.

Under graduate Homoeopathic Education

Undergraduate education over the five and half years is designed to develop competency step wise from health to disease. Institute has always functioned on a specially designed Integrated medical education programme to train the student to understand human functioning in the health, possible reasons for deviation from health, mode of development of pathology and disease. Simultaneously, training for acquiring curative, preventive, promotive and rehabilitative skills from the Hahnemannian perspective and principles is also imparted. The perspective of individualization is integrated with the disease perspective. The complete training is based on principles of medical education technology to prepare the students for evolving into an advances clinician, teacher and researcher.

PHD program

Homoeopathy needs a different outlook and approach to research. A deeper insight into the integration of homoeopathic concepts and their application into clinical, fundamental and literature research is the need of the hour. Our Founder has raised the bar for us and the Institute is now developing genuine focused research approaches which are subject specific and which would contribute immensely to develop documentation and scientificity in homoeopathy.
