We began training the faculty by developing structured modules that connect subjects within each year (e.g., 1st year: Anatomy, Physiology, Philosophy & Pharmacy with remedial action). It was enhanced by encouraging the functioning of cross-departmental teaching teams.
The transition from traditional teaching to integrated learning encountered several challenges including curricular rigidity, faculty and student adaptation, limited resources, and a conventional assessment system. We conducted rigorous training for the teachers in integrated teaching, facilitation, and mentorship.
Students were exposed to the clinic for Case-based learning from their first year. Their learning was facilitated by Clinical orientation programs and patient interviews.
The Student learnt the importance of observation / documentation and integration with the theory subjects of the respective years. It culminated in organizing integrated case-based seminars.
